2024.06.05. The Fair Economy — The Ministry of Science and ICT held the "Je 10 Hoe Global ICT Rideosip Forum (The 10th Global ICT Leadership Forum)" on the 5th at the Conrad Seoul Hotel in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul.

The Global ICT Leadership Forum is part of Korea's Official Development Assistance (ODA) program. It has been held annually since 2015 to share South Korea's policies and experience as a leading digital nation and to contribute to the establishment and development of information and communication technology policies in developing countries.

This year's event marked the 10th edition of the forum, and since its founding, high-level policymakers at the minister or vice-minister level from about 50 countries have taken part.

In particular, this year's forum was held as a side event of the Han – Apeurika Jeongsang Hoeui (Korea-Africa Summit), which is taking place in Korea from June 4 to 5, with the aim of building ICT partnerships with the African region. ICT ministers from 13 African countries — Egypt, Uganda, Tunisia, Madagascar, Comoros, Eswatini, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Malawi, Ghana, Tanzania and Zimbabwe — attended.

In the subsequent keynote speech, Eom Yeol, Director of the ICT Policy Division at the Ministry of Science and ICT, presented key strategies and policy directions for Korea's AI and digital sector under the theme "AI and Digital-Based Innovative Growth Strategy", covering initiatives such as the "AI-Semiconductor Initiative", the "Charter of Digital Rights", the "Plan for Establishing a New Digital Order", and the "AI Seoul Jeongsang Hoeui (AI Seoul Summit 2024) outcomes". Following this, Hwang Jong-seong, President of the National Information Society Agency (NIA), presented on the theme "AI-era Korea-Africa Digital Cooperation Plan", discussing AI-based ODA and other Korea-Africa partnerships.
