2024.06.13. The Fair Economy — The Korea Software Industry Association (KOSA) held the "KOSA Leaders Forum 2024" on the 13th at Lotte Resort Buyeo in Buyeo County, South Chungcheong Province, with about 150 people attending, including member companies, government ministries and regional councils.

According to KOSA, the Leaders Forum, held for the first time this year, is a platform for knowledge exchange among leaders in the software (SW) industry. The event features lectures by prominent figures in the humanities, social sciences and technology fields that explore humanities and social trends, along with networking programs for business exchange among member companies.

"This is the first workshop in the association's history to bring together all member companies," said Cho Jun-hui, KOSA president, in his opening remarks. "As a representative body of the domestic SW industry with more than 14,000 member companies, many of which are based in the provinces, we plan to hold the Leaders Forum on a rotating basis across regions. We will continue to make active efforts for corporate growth, including revitalizing new industries and expanding overseas presence."

Kim Gyeong-man, director general for AI-based policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT, then delivered congratulatory remarks.

The day's lectures were held in three sessions.

First, Kim Gyeong-il, a professor in the Department of Psychology at Ajou University who is regarded as a leading figure in cognitive psychology, gave life advice to those facing a long life ahead, under the theme "The Wisdom of the Mind."

Next, Kim Yu-cheol, a division head at the LG AI Research Center, presented on "The Current State of the Generative AI Ecosystem and Response Strategies." He spoke about the industrial impact of generative AI, which is expected to create up to $4.4 trillion in annual value for the global economy going forward, and stressed that the time has come for detailed, concrete measures to develop the AI industry.

Kim Yu-cheol said, "The world going forward will not return to the pre-AI era," adding that sustained efforts are needed since results are difficult to achieve in a short period of time.

Finally, Park Hyeong-ju, a distinguished professor and mathematics scholar who previously served as president of Ajou University, spoke to the attending business leaders about how to approach the hyper-connected era, under the theme "Insights for Leaders in the Age of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence."

Professor Park Hyeong-ju raised the question of how the standards and methods for selecting talent should change in a project-centered corporate work environment, and said that understanding the culture and language of other fields across boundaries, as well as drawing implications from vast amounts of data, are powerful ways to solve difficult problems and essential qualities for leaders.

In addition, a welcome performance by Granada, a global Korean-wave traditional music band, kept the atmosphere lively.
