2024.07.04. The Fair Economy — The Public Procurement Service's Procurement Quality Institute announced on the 2nd that it held the first quality-assured procurement product designation ceremony of 2024 at its office in Gimcheon Innovation City.

According to the Public Procurement Service, a total of 81 products from 34 companies were selected as quality-assured procurement items, including S-grade (2 items), B-grade (60 items), and preliminary items (19 items).

Among the selected products were items related to public life and safety that drew particular attention, including "traffic safety signs" that help drivers drive safely and "water treatment aeration devices" that make tap water safe to drink.

In addition, DLOGIXS, an audio equipment manufacturer, received a B- grade designation for two product types including audio amplifiers, while Doowon Electronics & Communication, a company specializing in the manufacture, design and development of security equipment, received a B0 grade designation for two product types including security cameras.

Quality-Assured Procurement Goods is a system under which the Public Procurement Service evaluates small and medium-sized enterprises' quality management capabilities and designates high-quality products.

Based on their evaluation scores, products are classified into S, A and B grades, as well as preliminary Quality-Assured Procurement items, and are granted benefits such as exemption from delivery inspection (for up to five years), technical quality bonus points for Excellent Procurement Goods, a special mark on the online shopping mall, and bonus points in bidding.

Public institutions can purchase Quality-Assured Procurement Goods to quickly receive high-quality products without delivery inspection.

Baek Ho-seong, head of the Public Procurement Service's Quality Management Institute, said, "The Quality-Assured Procurement Goods designation system has moved beyond simply weeding out defective products through inspection, and instead encourages procurement companies to manage quality on their own, raising both companies' quality management capabilities and the satisfaction of the institutions that use the products. Starting in August, we will hold training sessions for companies seeking designation every month instead of every other month, and actively expand the designation system by providing more substantive, customized on-site consulting."
