The Fair Economy — AI specialist Alchera (CEO Hwang Yeong-gyu) announced on the 19th that it has been selected as a supplier for the 'Digital Innovative Enterprise Global Growth Voucher Support Project (Solution Voucher)' and will support the development of an on-device AI facial recognition system.
The 'Digital Innovation Enterprise Global Growth Voucher Support Program', overseen by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), is a program that supports ICT companies and digital innovation enterprises in global technology development and service enhancement through vouchers.
This year, 150 companies applied, and 15 firms, representing 10% of applicants, were selected.
Selected as a supplier, Alchera will provide technology for developing an on-device AI facial recognition system for privacy protection to GhostPass, a decentralized biometric authentication solution company.
GhostPass offers a decentralized biometric authentication solution that allows users to directly manage their own biometric information using smartphones.
Through remote biometric authentication algorithms embedded in smartphones, the system enables hands-free and deviceless authentication for identity verification, payments, and access control.
Through this project, the two companies will develop a facial recognition system that processes user facial information on the device itself rather than on external servers.
By processing facial data on the device without routing it through central servers or the cloud, the system strengthens personal data protection and significantly reduces the risk of information leakage.
This approach also complies with the facial recognition and facial data collection regulations of the EU AI Act, approved by the EU in April, and is expected to serve as a global regulatory model in the future.
Alchera CEO Hwang Yeong-gyu said, "Alchera is working to expand facial recognition technology and develop the market, and the Solution Voucher project is also part of that effort. We aim to secure competitiveness in the on‑device AI market and drive business expansion."
