2024.07.30. The Fair Economy — Tilon, a specialist in cloud virtualization and metaverse office solutions, said it will showcase its technological capabilities at the promotional planning exhibition of the '8th National Defense Science and Technology Festival,' scheduled to be held from the 1st to the 3rd at Exhibition Hall 1 of the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul.
Hosted by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and organized by the Korea Defense Industry Association, the event offers a glimpse into cutting-edge future defense science, featuring a core future-defense technology conference, a startup competition, an idea contest for turning imagination into reality, VR experiences and other hands-on programs for the whole family to enjoy.
According to Tilon, the company will present its virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solution 'Dstation v9.0' and the zero-client appliance 'OBjet Box, OBB' optimized for desktop virtualization at the promotional exhibition.
Dstation v9.0 is the only product in the virtualization management field to meet the National Intelligence Service's National Security Requirements V2.0, having obtained a security function confirmation certificate and been certified for security suitability that can effectively defend against cyberattacks.
OBB is a zero-client security terminal with built-in fingerprint recognition and one-time password (OTP) authentication, enabling PC use without time or place constraints. It offers excellent security, cost reduction, and carbon neutrality through paperless operations.
OBB uses filtering technology to ensure that users' data and activity leave no trace on the terminal, and comes standard with biometric recognition and wireless screen-sharing software, blocking the leakage of internal information through printing. Such technology enables fundamental protection of defense information. It is also significant in that, based on 1,000 units, it offers an eco-friendly IT infrastructure with an introduction cost of 340 million won, annual electricity usage cost of 78 million won, and an effect equivalent to replacing 240,000 trees.
While traditional physical work environments are vulnerable to threats such as internal information leakage, information theft, external attacks, loss, and unauthorized resetting of administrator passwords, VDI/Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS)-based work environments effectively address these issues, providing a safer working environment. Information remains securely protected even on lost devices, and the risks of internal information leakage and vulnerabilities to external attacks are reduced.
In particular, Tilon's solution includes advanced features that can effectively respond to critical security threats such as unauthorized reset of administrator passwords. It utilizes the Unified Write Filter (UWF) technology to control data volatility and is equipped with a system that can respond immediately to abnormal attempts.
Tilon's technological innovation is in step with the rapid changes in the global cybersecurity environment in recent years. Many advanced countries, including the United States, are paying close attention to innovation in cybersecurity technology in order to minimize the economic and security damage caused by the rise in cyberattacks.
In particular, the U.S. administration and Department of Defense have pursued a key strategy since the mid-2010s of converting all systems to a virtual desktop environment to prevent internal information leaks. Similarly, solutions like Tilon's Dstation v9.0 provide enhanced security functions such as file system and process protection by developing a proprietary kernel driver in addition to security certification, enabling effective responses to cyberattacks. The company has also further strengthened data leak-prevention security by applying its own in-house developed screen watermark and print watermark features.
Choi Baek-jun, CEO of Tilon, said, "The biggest reason Tilon, a software development company, developed an appliance is the need for secure operation of the solution. In other words, through OBB we have presented a fundamental alternative that can block illegal leakage of military secrets and defense information as well as unauthorized access and hacking attempts."
He added, "Through this event, we expect to realize innovation in information protection systems in the defense sector. By providing stable and innovative security solutions, we aim to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of National Defense and contribute to national security."
Tilon's participation in this festival is expected to widely publicize the company's technological capabilities and create opportunities for further collaboration on projects in the defense field going forward.
Meanwhile, Tilon's booth is located at Booth 312 in Exhibition Hall 1, where visitors can directly experience the virtualization solution.
