2024.08.12. The Fair Economy — The National Intelligence Service announced that, in collaboration with the National Security Research Institute, it will hold the first 'Cyber Summit Korea (CSK) 2024' from September 10 to 12 at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, under the theme "Efforts ahead of the AI, quantum, and space era for global cyber security".

According to the National Intelligence Service, CSK 2024 is an international cybersecurity event led by South Korea, aimed at encouraging the international community—rather than individual nations—to cooperate in responding preemptively and proactively to cyber threats that exploit advanced technologies.

The event will feature an international intelligence exchange meeting, a conference, an international cyber exercise (APEX), and a cyber attack defense competition (CCE), along with cybersecurity-related exhibitions and promotional booths.

The conference will invite domestic and international cybersecurity experts to deliver a total of 24 lectures and discussions on three themes: New Technology, Emerging Threats, and Strategy & Action.

In particular, on Sept. 11, with participation from NATO and 20 countries in the Indo-Pacific region, the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE), the Cyber Operations Command, and the National Security Research Institute will jointly conduct 'APEX (Allied Power EXercise) 2024,' the first international cyber exercise led by South Korea, aimed at strengthening cyber response capabilities.

APEX 2024 has been thoroughly prepared for over a year since President Yoon Suk-yeol met with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in July last year and revealed his plan to host an international cyber exercise.

In addition, the CCE, which began in 2017 and is now in its eighth edition, will be held concurrently with the CSK event this year. A total of 41 teams are expected to participate, with the finals on Sept. 11 followed by an awards ceremony on Sept. 12.

The organizers also plan to operate promotional booths around the venue for exhibitions of cybersecurity technologies and products, as well as policy briefings on cybersecurity by relevant agencies.

NIS Director Cho Tae-yong said, "We will develop the CSK event into a major international cybersecurity event like the UK's CyberUK, Singapore's SICW, and Israel's Cyber Week, and secure South Korea's cybersecurity leadership in the international community."

CSK 2024 is open to anyone interested in cybersecurity, and participation is free of charge. Those wishing to attend can register through the official website (www.cybersummit.kr) by September 5.
