2024.08.21. The Fair Economy — Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), together with the Ministry of Science and ICT, recently announced that it will hold the third Ransomware Resilience Conference at the War Memorial Peace & Park Convention Center in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on September 10, to strengthen cooperation among stakeholders in industry, academia, and other sectors in responding to ransomware attacks.

Recent ransomware attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated, making it difficult even to identify the attackers. In particular, public and medical institutions, where rapid provision of public and medical services is essential, have become major targets. Accordingly, possessing ransomware resilience—the ability to effectively detect, respond to, and recover from ransomware attacks—has become more important than ever.

KISA has been holding the Ransomware Resilience Conference annually since 2022 to strengthen its ransomware response and damage recovery capabilities, and this year it will be held under the theme "Enhancing Resilience for Ransomware Damage Recovery."

The conference will bring together ransomware experts currently active in the field to provide information on the latest trends in ransomware incidents and recovery response measures. The detailed program will begin with ransomware response trends, followed by sessions on ▲ransomware breach case studies, ▲ransomware investigation and response, and ▲ransomware recovery strategies.

The conference is open to anyone free of charge, and online registration is available until September 3. Further details can be found on the poster or on the cryptography utilization promotion website (seed.kisa.or.kr).

Lee Sang-jung, President of KISA, said, "As ransomware threats evolve globally, I hope this conference will serve as a time to discuss ways to strengthen global joint responses to ransomware attacks and secure damage recovery resilience."
