2024.08.30. The Fair Economy — Security fabless company ICTK (CEO Lee Jeong-won) recently announced that it has been finally selected as a participating company in the 'SME Technology Innovation Development Project' led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
The project aims to enhance technological competitiveness and foster innovative SMEs through private-sector initiatives, providing two years of development funding. ICTK has begun domestic development of a PCIe HSM based on PUF (Physically Unclonable Function) equipped with post-quantum cryptography (PQC), aiming to create a domestically produced solution competitive in domestic and international markets.
PCIe-based HSMs are high-performance cryptographic management solutions that can be easily integrated into servers via high-speed PCIe interfaces, enabling efficient construction and operation of security infrastructure. Currently, foreign-made products dominate the market, making the development of domestic products urgent. If this domestic development succeeds, major customers will include banks and financial institutions, cloud service providers, government and public agencies, and it is expected to be utilized across various sectors.
Lee Jeong-won, CEO of ICTK, explained, "Given the government's recent announcement supporting development and investment in quantum computing and related fields, demand for quantum cryptography communication technology is expected to continue growing." He added, "ICTK will lead the quantum security market with domestic technology."
Meanwhile, ICTK has been active in the quantum security field, having already launched a security chip 'G5' equipped with post-quantum cryptography (PQC) in July 2022. As a member of the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA), which includes global companies such as Nvidia, Intel, ARM, Samsung, and SK Hynix, ICTK is participating in technology leadership by publishing technical white papers on Internet of Things (IoT) security and IP subcommittees.
