2024.06.10. The Fair Economy — The Ministry of the Interior and Safety said on the 10th that it will report a plan to support damage caused by North Korea's trash balloon launches at a Cabinet meeting presided over by the prime minister on the 11th.

Currently, there is no legal basis to support damage from North Korea's trash balloon launches, and legislation is being pursued to address this.

As part of proactive administration, the government plans to have the relevant local governments swiftly support affected residents even before the relevant laws are revised.

Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, where damage has occurred, plan to use their own budgets, including reserve funds, to provide support for the damage as quickly as possible.

So far, eight cases of damage, including broken car windows, have been reported in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province due to the trash balloon launches, and the scale of damage may increase as more reports come in.
