2024.07.12. The Fair Economy — InsWave Systems, an artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation (DX) specialist led by CEO Eo Se-ryong, recently announced that it successfully concluded the '2024 InsWave AI Contest' on the 9th. The event was designed to drive corporate transformation toward AI and enhance employee capabilities.
According to InsWave, this is the second edition of the contest, following the '2023 InsWave GPT Contest' held in May last year. It was organized as part of an internal upskilling program aimed at building job competencies suited to the AI era.
While the previous event focused on exploring the potential of GPT technology and applying it to practical work, this year's competition emphasized leveraging AI technology and large language models (LLMs) to discover innovative features and service development ideas applicable to the company's existing solutions, an Inswave official explained.
To lead market growth and change, companies and workers must constantly grasp trends while sometimes creating new ones ahead of competitors. Accordingly, InsWave's upskilling program plays a central role in boosting the competitiveness of both the company and its employees, serving as a sound future strategy for gaining market advantage.
The 2024 InsWave AI Contest attracted nearly half of all employees, with about 60 people from eight teams participating across two categories: expanding existing products and planning new products and services. The entries were evaluated against rigorous criteria, including service functionality, creativity, applicability to existing products, and business potential, resulting in three winning teams.
The grand prize went to the team of Han Sang-seop and Jeon Byeong-jin (team name: Odaejangseong Season 2), who presented a novel approach that uses LLMs to generate source code for Inswave's flagship product WebSquare based on text input.
This method allows users to input rules and elements needed for WebSquare screen design in text form, which the system then uses to automatically generate source code and render it directly as a WebSquare screen. This approach aligns most closely with the direction of the WebSquare AI solution launched in March, and captivated the judges as a technology that could complement the four innovative AI Copilot features.
The winning team, second and third place finishers, and all participants received prize money of up to 1 million won (about $740) per person. The CEO also formally committed to realizing outstanding ideas. InsWave has already demonstrated this commitment: it launched 'AI Talk,' the winner of last year's GPT Contest, as an AI-based technical support site called 'W-Tech Center' within three months, and separately released an on-device AI mobile application called 'W-Talk' in December of that same year.
Furthermore, the winning idea was even integrated as a core feature of the 'AI Square' chatbot service, which was registered on the GPT Store in January this year as the first in the industry, demonstrating the company's sincerity in realizing employee ideas and honoring winning entries.
"This contest was organized to strengthen the capabilities of InsWave employees and promote the development of innovative solutions using AI technology. Based on the results and experience gained from this event, we will develop even more powerful solutions and continue to grow together with our employees," said Eo Se-ryong, CEO of InsWave.
