2024.07.16. The Fair Economy — Aiji Net Inc.'s AI insurance platform "Bodoc" announced on the 16th the results of its one-year operation of the compensation consultation service launched last June.
Bodoc's compensation consultation is a service that allows users to receive non-face-to-face consultations with professional claims adjusters through a bulletin board within the Bodoc app. By linking with MyData, it provides accurate confirmation of compensation eligibility based on each individual's enrolled insurance policies, as well as information most advantageous from the consumer's perspective.
According to Bodoc, since the bulletin board opened in June last year until June 30 this year, approximately 1,150 inquiries and consultations have been made, surpassing 1,000 cumulative users. Among them, about 100 people, or 10%, received consultations more than twice, which is interpreted as indicating high satisfaction with the service.
The number of consultations has also nearly doubled compared to the previous year. In 2023, the average monthly count was 63.4 cases, rising to 117.5 cases in 2024. After launching personalized compensation consultations in November, the number surged, reaching 132 cases in March, the highest to date. Since then, the service has continued to receive over 100 inquiries and responses per month.
The most common consultation topics were surgery, hospitalization, and emergency room visits, in that order. The most frequent diagnoses were polyp removal, fractures, and cancer, with the most common question being whether any of the user's insurance policies could cover a claim. Additionally, regardless of timing, the most frequent inquiry was about compensation for polyp removal surgery discovered during a colonoscopy. Occasionally, users contacted after a claim was denied, revealing consumers' frustration and urgency regarding compensation.
Bodoc announced that it plans to continue expanding its compensation consultation service and will first build a specialized consultation service for the automotive sector.
It is preparing to offer assessments through specialized auto claims adjusters, including providing opinions on diminished value (loss due to the decrease in vehicle value after an accident) by integrating analysis of accident photos, estimate information, and insurance terms, fault consultations using black box footage, and verification of whether auto repair and claim items are excessive.
Kim Ji-tae, CEO of Aiji Net Inc., the developer of Bodoc, said, "Compensation consultation is a free service launched to provide information on receiving insurance payouts so that consumers can fully enjoy their rights. As the number of users grows rapidly, we realized that ordinary customers still find it difficult to interpret whether an incident they experienced meets the payment conditions based solely on insurance policies or terms. Going forward, we will continue to consider various ways to provide legitimate compensation information that insurance consumers are entitled to."
Bodoc is an insurtech platform based on MyData and AI technology, and has surpassed 1.3 million cumulative downloads and 500 billion won (about $362 million) in cumulative brokerage volume, maintaining its position as the No. 1 platform in Korea. Recently, it has been expanding its services beyond insurance into life care areas such as health functional foods and funeral services.
