2024.06.11. The Fair Economy — Kisa said it held a briefing titled "Briefing on Preventing Illegal Spam Transmission" on the 11th at its Seoul headquarters in Songpa-gu, Seoul, together with the Korea Communications Commission and its regional communications office, for businesses that need to send advertising information.

In particular, the briefing was joined by the Korea Communications Commission and the PPC to strengthen inter-agency cooperation, given that illegal spam transmission is highly related to the collection and use of personal information without consent.

Main topics included ▲interpretation of the Information and Communications Network Act and the Personal Information Protection Act for proper transmission of commercial information (Kisa) ▲cases by type of violation (Broadcasting and Telecommunications Office) ▲personal information dispute mediation cases (PPC) ▲measures to prevent illegal spam (Korea Communications Commission).

"Through this briefing, I hope we have raised understanding not only among large companies but also among small and micro businesses that send illegal spam without fully grasping the relevant laws," said Jung Won-gi, head of Kisa's Digital User Protection Bureau. "Kisa will continue to set up the policies needed to prevent illegal spam, while also actively working to keep the public from being exposed to it."
