2024.07.12. The Fair Economy — The Korea Transportation Safety Authority (TS) recently announced that it has built a smart work environment using the 'On-Book', a smart work-support laptop, to improve the convenience and safety of field operations.

The On-Book is a security-enhanced work laptop developed through public-private cooperation led by the Ministry of Public Administration and Security to respond quickly to changing work environments such as remote work and on-site customer service. It allows work to be handled efficiently with a single PC regardless of location, and its key feature is that users can access both the office network and the internet simultaneously in an environment identical to the office, anytime and anywhere.

TS introduced the On-Book system in 2023, ahead of other public institutions, and after investigating tasks suitable for actual implementation and conducting pilot operations, has been applying the On-Book to field operations since June of this year.

In particular, TS newly built exam-dedicated terminals using On-Books to address security vulnerabilities in the 'Mobile National Qualification Exam (Hanggongyeongeogusulneungryeokjeungmyeongsiheom (English Proficiency Test for Aviation)).'

Through this, it supported a total of 29 examinees over three days from June 19 to 21 to take the English Proficiency Test for Aviation in a secure and stable environment.

Alongside this, TS is providing On-Books to external remote workers and departments with frequent business trips, creating an environment where they can perform work efficiently in conditions identical to the office even while away.

TS plans to continue its efforts to build a smart work environment by gathering employee feedback and identifying additional tasks suitable for expanding the use of On-Books.

"TS is actively enhancing the convenience of field operations by creating a smart work environment where work can be done anytime and anywhere. We will do our best to expand the foundation for improving employees' productivity and realizing an efficient government," said Kwon Yong-bok, chairman of TS.
