2024.07.12. The Fair Economy — SNAPTAG (CEO Min Gyeong-ung), a company specializing in invisible watermark technology, recently announced that it has successfully attracted Series B investment.
According to SNAPTAG, the investment round was joined by Kiwoom Investment, Kakao Investment, and Stonebridge Ventures. With this, the cumulative investment amount has surpassed 10 billion won (about $7.2 million).
SNAPTAG's invisible watermark technology uses invisible watermarks to apply data to various content and detect it. The company holds related patents both domestically and internationally.
Based on this core technology, it has launched solutions and provides services in various fields such as "information security," "generative AI image authentication," and "IP authentication."
The information security solution applies invisible watermarks containing user information to screens and printed materials, allowing the identification of the leaker when such content is photographed and leaked. It is offered as the LabGuard series, which can be applied to mobile screens, PC screens, web screens, files, and printed materials. The LabGuard series not only solves security issues related to leaks after photography but is also provided as a module in the form of an SDK (Software Development Kit) for easy adoption, ensuring high scalability without restrictions on industry or region.
The generative AI image authentication solution automatically applies invisible watermarks to AI-generated images, enabling identification of AI images along with detailed information. Unlike probabilistic analysis by other AI watermark solutions, it provides accurate information and contributes to regulation through dialogues with the government, such as the "Legislation and Judiciary Committee briefing" and the "AI High-Level Strategic Dialogue." If watermarking becomes a mandatory condition in the AI market, SNAPTAG's invisible watermark is expected to be used globally beyond Korea.
The IP authentication solution applies invisible watermarks to product packages requiring authenticity verification, allowing consumers to scan with a smartphone to check detailed product information and authenticity. It can be applied across various industries, including food, distribution, and sports, and serves as a medium that provides diverse online experiences beyond simple product information checks.
Based on this technology, SNAPTAG has launched a sports photo card platform that connects offline and online experiences.
SNAPTAG is expanding the application of its core invisible watermark technology to various businesses. It is striving to become the fourth-generation code and the technical standard for invisible watermarks, going beyond barcodes and QR codes.
Through the Series B investment, SNAPTAG plans to advance its invisible watermark technology and expand its global business. The company also announced that it will actively recruit top talent to strengthen its R&D capabilities.
Min Gyeong-ung, CEO of SNAPTAG, added, "With this investment as a catalyst, we will strive to develop our invisible watermark technology so it can be applied to even more businesses and become a global technological standard. Through continuous R&D and strategic partnerships, we will strengthen our competitiveness in the global market."
