2024.07.12. The Fair Economy — The National Intelligence Service said on the 12th that it produced a leaflet containing "action guidelines in case of terror" ahead of the peak vacation season, placing copies at departure halls at Incheon and Gimpo airports and posting them on its website, Facebook and Instagram.
The guide was written based on an analysis of more than 3,600 overseas terror incidents over the past three years, focusing on four main types — firearms and bladed weapons, explosives and fires, vehicle ramming, and chemical, biological and radiological attacks — while reflecting the views of domestic and international experts.
To make it easy for the public to understand, the leaflet presents guidelines for responding to firearm and bladed-weapon terror in the order of RUN (evacuate immediately), HIDE (take cover) and TELL (report), accompanied by infographics. It also includes precautions by travel advisory level and emergency contact numbers for the 24-hour Consular Call Center and major embassies.
An NIS official said, "The Paris 2024 Olympics are scheduled during this vacation season, and terror threats targeting mass-gathering facilities around the world are intensifying. We hope the 'terror response guidelines' will be well used as a minimal safety measure to protect yourself."
