2024.07.15. The Fair Economy — IT performance management firm exem (CEO Cho Jong-am, Ko Pyeong-seok) said on the 15th that its Japanese subsidiary participated in the 'DB Tech Showcase 2024' held at the TKP Ichigaya Conference Center in Tokyo, Japan, on November 11 and 12.

According to exem, its Japanese subsidiary showcased its database (DB) performance management solution MaxGauge, cloud-based DB integrated performance management solution MaxGauge for CloudDB, and new all-in-one integrated monitoring solution exemONE.

Now in its 13th year, DB Tech Showcase is Japan's largest DB technology conference, where over 1,000 DB professionals and engineers from around the world gather annually to share and collaborate on the latest DB technologies and market cases. This year's event featured about 90 sessions, with a majority focused on the latest DB technologies, including generative AI integration.

The Japanese subsidiary, participating for the second consecutive year, operated an exhibition booth and held two technical sessions during the event. On the first day, Morihito Nakagawa of the product group at exem Japan presented ways to improve observability to accurately identify various DB issues and their root causes.

On the second day, Hiroshi Ono of the Technical ICT Promotion Department at Japanese oil company Idemitsu Kosan, in a discussion with Daisuke Goto, representative of exem Japan, explained how the introduction of MaxGauge into its core SAP system improved the operation of its SQL Server DB. exem Japan has supplied MaxGauge and MaxGauge for CloudDB to Idemitsu Kosan and recently won contracts for SQL Server DB operation support and DB migration projects.

At the event, exemONE, a new product launched by exem's Korean headquarters in April this year, was unveiled for the first time in Japan. exemONE is an all-in-one integrated monitoring solution that provides a single platform for managing the performance of various systems—servers, Kubernetes, DB, applications, logs, and networks—in hybrid cloud environments that mix on-premises and cloud. According to IDC Japan, Japan's cloud market was 7.825 trillion yen (about $52 billion) last year and is projected to reach 16.6285 trillion yen (about $111 billion) by 2028, a 2.1-fold increase, driving significant growth in demand for integrated monitoring.

In the second half of the year, exem Japan plans to strengthen exemONE's DB monitoring capabilities and then unify sales of MaxGauge for CloudDB under exemONE. Since launching MaxGauge for CloudDB in October last year, exem Japan has seen Japan's largest telecommunications company NTT Communications and oil company Idemitsu Kosan adopt MaxGauge for CloudDB to manage multiple cloud DBs, and plans to transition them to exemONE.

Daisuke Goto, representative of exem Japan, said, "Customer response was strong at last year's event, so we participated again this year. In particular, our remote DB technical support service 'SmartDBA' and the packaging sales strategy for MaxGauge products are meeting the needs arising from Japan's accelerating digital transformation and the shortage of DB administrators. Building on the successful launch of exemONE in Korea in April, we will focus on discovering additional sales partners in the second half and establishing exemONE, achieving sales growth this year."
