2024.07.17. The Fair Economy — Biometric security solutions company Union Community (CEO Shin Yo-sik) announced on the 17th that its fingerprint recognition terminals and modules have earned a first-grade certification in the forged fingerprint defense performance test under the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA)'s biometric system performance test.
The biometric system performance test certification is the only biometric performance testing system in Korea, conducted by the K-NBTC and certified by KISA. K-NBTC designs tests that comply with ISO international standards and issues certificates only to products that demonstrate a certain level of performance. Because the tests use real fingerprint data built in-house, the certification is highly reliable, and when supplying fingerprint recognition systems to government and public institutions, the K-NBTC certification is used as a performance indicator for forged fingerprint defense capability.
According to Union Community, the company's fingerprint terminal 'AC-5000 IK' and fingerprint modules 'NScan-SDL' and 'NScan-FM' — three fingerprint products in total — earned first-grade certification in the forged fingerprint defense performance test. The products passed the K-NBTC's forged biometric performance test, which includes various forged fingerprint environments and scenarios, with a 100% forged fingerprint detection rate and a 0% forged fingerprint acceptance rate. Union Community is the first company in Korea to receive certification in the form of a finished product (access control terminal) since the forged biometric performance test was converted to a grading system.
Shin Yo-sik, CEO of Union Community, said, "This is an important result that verifies the security and accuracy, which are the most critical aspects of biometric solutions. Based on the reliability of Union Community's biometric solutions, we will strive to achieve results in domestic and international business, and we will continue to make efforts to advance our technology."
Meanwhile, Union Community recently obtained GS certification for its integrated security solution 'UBio Alpeta', further validating the technological prowess of its various biometric-based solutions.
