2024.07.18. The Fair Economy — TmaxTibero, the database management system (DBMS) affiliate of Tmax Group, announced on the 18th that its research institute has been selected as the 'Best Corporate Research Center' for the first half of 2024 by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
According to TmaxTibero, the company attended the '2024 First Half Excellent Corporate Research Center Certificate Ceremony' hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT at The-K Hotel Seoul in Seocho-gu, Seoul, and received the certificate for the 'Best Corporate Research Center'.
The 'Tmax R&D Center TmaxTibero Institute' was recognized for its technology on par with global monopoly firms to break dependence, leadership in the cloud DBMS market, cost-reduction effects for IT systems, expansion of the software (SW) ecosystem and joint export effects, job creation, and a track record of serving more than 1,400 clients across various industries.
Lee Hui-sang, president of TmaxTibero Co.,Ltd, said, "In the DBMS market dominated by foreign vendors, TmaxTibero's technology has been the 'first penguin' that broke the monopoly. As a native source IT company, we will take pride and continue to solve the global DBMS vendor dependency issues we have experienced in domestic and overseas markets."
Having developed original technology over the past 20 years, TmaxTibero recently introduced a high-performance DBMS tailored to users without cloud environment constraints. In particular, its 'High Availability Clustering Technology (Tibero Active Cluster, TAC)', developed as the world's second, is evaluated to provide a stable service environment and high compatibility.
Based on this, TmaxTibero plans to continue its activities to become a national representative IT company leading the cloud-native era. It plans to strengthen its global market offensive through an AI-based fully managed DBMS platform that integrates support for various data types in cloud environments.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Science and ICT selects outstanding corporate research institutes each year through on-site and presentation evaluations to systematically nurture and enhance the competitiveness of corporate research institutes, and from among them, it separately selects institutes that are at global level or have potential to grow to world-class level as the best corporate research institutes. In the first half of 2024, a total of 24 institutes were selected as outstanding corporate research institutes, and only TmaxTibero Co.,Ltd and Sanigen were named as the best corporate research institutes.
