2024.07.25. The Fair Economy — The Korea Information Technology Research Institute (KITRI) announced on the 25th that it held an 'On-Site Meeting for Fostering White Hat Hackers' at the KITRI BoB Center in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, to discuss the development of white hat hacker talent.

According to KITRI, this briefing was organized to listen to the difficulties faced by mentors, trainees, and others participating in the white-hat hacker training program and to discuss measures for improving the curriculum. "Best of the Best, BoB" program graduates and mentors, "Whitehat School" graduates, "Cyber Guardians" graduates, and high school teachers participated.

Participants shared their impressions of the training, what they hoped for in the programs, and opinions on the direction of talent development.

Young white hat hackers shared their journeys to becoming information security experts and their future plans, and proposed improvements to the training.

Kang Do-hyeon, Second Vice Minister of Science and ICT, who attended the meeting, said, "As cyber threats become more intelligent and sophisticated and cyber warfare between nations intensifies, white hat hackers have become a strategic national asset. We will closely examine whether trainees face any difficulties in the white hat hacker training process and improve the curriculum more systematically so that promising young people can grow into the world's best white hat hackers."

Yoo Jun-sang, President of KITRI, said, "Since starting BoB in 2012, we have established a step-by-step and systematic educational foundation through Cyber Guardians and Whitehat School. To foster high-quality white hat hackers who will lead the AI era, it is essential to improve training facilities, utilize domestic and international security solutions, and expand overseas through global cooperation. Active government investment and interest in fostering white hat hackers are required."
