2024.08.12. The Fair Economy — OWL Systems, a database (DB) security specialist, announced on the 12th that it has released the segment encryption product 'OWLink V1.1'.

OWLink V1.1 is an upgraded product that incorporates the company's validated encryption module 'OWLCrypto V1.0' from the initial segment encryption version and expands the supported environment.

OWLink meets the security requirements needed in open communication segments, including confidentiality, integrity, authentication, availability, and secure key management.

It ensures secure data transmission and reception in most communication environments such as TCP/IP, wireless, and web, and supports a variety of devices including PCs, servers, and embedded systems.

In particular, it applies its own protocol that meets security levels of TLS 1.2 or higher and incorporates the OWLCrypto module that has passed the Korean Cryptographic Module Validation Program (KCMVP), ensuring data encryption security and providing secure certificate issuance and mutual authentication functions.

In terms of security, it supports various cryptographic algorithms such as ARIA, SEED, and LEA, and provides multiple operation modes such as CBC, CTR, OFB, and CFB.

It supports replay attack prevention, forward and backward secrecy, and enables secure session key management. Session keys stored in the DB are expired according to the user-defined interval, further enhancing security.

It provides an application programming interface (API) that allows system implementation with just four functions, making library management easy. It offers various session key management options, DB access control, and data management APIs.

Additionally, it provides a debugging API that returns error messages when API calls fail. The error messages support Korean and English, and integrate with various databases to enable session key restoration and automatic server certificate renewal after shutdown and restart.

Kang Byeong-seung, CEO of OWL Systems, said, "The OWLink released this time is designed with post-quantum cryptography (PQC) in mind. In future upgrade versions, we will add PQC technology to provide functions that protect customer systems with a secure cryptographic system and allow flexible transition even in the era of quantum computers."
