2024.08.12. The Fair Economy — Artificial intelligence (AI) specialist firm WISEnut (CEO Kang Yong-seong) announced on the 12th that it has been selected for the task of 'generative AI-based legal secretary and assistance service supporting case law search and document drafting' under the 14.2 billion won AI legal assistance service expansion project led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), and has begun first-year research.
According to WISEnut, this project is the government's first AI-based legal service support initiative and drew keen interest from the application stage.
In this project, which runs until next year, WISEnut aims to promote AI daily life and strengthen national AI competitiveness through the development and demonstration of a generative AI-based work support service for legal professionals. It plans to carry out service model demonstration with Dong-Hwa Law Corp. and LKBN Partners to enhance usability.
WISEnut will develop an 'AI legal secretary' service that can be used across the entire scope of legal professionals' work, including analyzing client requests, automatically summarizing specialized legal terminology, searching case law, drafting complaints, and calculating attorney fees, using its own retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technology that improves the accuracy of generative AI responses.
This will not only enhance legal professionals' work capabilities and efficiency but also reduce the time spent on drafting contracts and complaints, which takes up a significant portion of legal work, by more than 30%. This is expected to enable high-quality legal services for clients.
The RAG-based legal-specialized large language model (LLM) and AI legal assistant model developed through this project are planned to be expanded into a legal enterprise resource planning (ERP) service that legal professionals such as lawyers and legal scriveners can use in the future, and the company aims to achieve immediate popularization of legal AI services through existing legal ERP services.
WISEnut CEO Kang Yong-seong said, "I am pleased that WISEnut has once again been able to take the first step in introducing a new service to the industry. By applying our RAG-based generative AI technology to the legal field, we will contribute to developing and popularizing more practical and effective AI legal services."
