2024.08.13. The Fair Economy — Exem (CEO Cho Jong-am, Ko Pyeong-seok), a company specializing in integrated IT performance management, announced on the 13th through a disclosure that it achieved its highest-ever second-quarter revenue of 13.32 billion won on a consolidated basis. This is a 2.1% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to Exem, while the company recorded an operating loss and a net loss in the first quarter, it turned profitable in the second quarter with operating profit of 320 million won and net income of 740 million won. First-half revenue reached 22.46 billion won, once again breaking last year's record first-half performance within a year.

As a result of product development such as exemONE and research and development related to artificial intelligence (AI), the company posted a first-half operating loss of 2.54 billion won and a net loss of 1.03 billion won. However, Exem explained that given the characteristic of the IT industry where revenue is concentrated in the fourth quarter each year, profit improvement is fully achievable through increased second-half revenue.

By division, revenue in the database performance management (DBPM) division, the company's core business area, continued a steady trend compared to the same period last year, while first-half consolidated revenue in the application performance management (APM) division rose 20% year-on-year.

Exem explained that this was due to substantial revenue generated in the APM segment from major public institutions and customers in the financial and manufacturing sectors.

In addition, exemONE, launched in April, has been supplied to major domestic home appliance companies including Company L, and has been rapidly increasing its customer base since its launch.

Exem said that as the number of customers with hybrid infrastructure combining a self-built "on-premises" approach and a rental-based "cloud" approach increases, proof-of-concept (PoC) projects and actual contracts for exemONE continue to grow.

In the big data segment, EBIGs was newly supplied to a medical foundation, and some revenue from the Korea Environment Corporation's "Zero-emission vehicle integrated website big data platform construction supply" project and the "2024 Seoul big data integrated repository operation" project was recognized.

MaxGauge, the DBPM solution that holds the No. 1 market share domestically, has a strong lock-in effect, as customers tend to continue using it without replacement once adopted. As customers with large-scale IT systems continuously purchase additional MaxGauge licenses, Exem has secured a stable revenue base. Along with this, Exem is strengthening its market dominance by acquiring more than 30 new customers in its core DBPM and APM businesses during the first half.

In the second half, the big data segment will conduct digital transformation (DX) and big data consulting and big data analysis PoC for companies in industries with very large global market sizes. Starting next year, Exem plans to supply EBIGs. Additionally, it will launch an "AI analysis platform" in the second half that maximizes data scientists' analytical capabilities when used together with EBIGs. With superior performance and price competitiveness compared to overseas competitors, Exem plans to actively capture market share from the launch.

In the "AIOps" segment, which refers to AI for IT system and infrastructure operation, Exem completed the construction of an integrated intelligent monitoring system for a major card company in the first quarter and is now conducting the system operation project scheduled from the second quarter through the end of this year. Additionally, it is identifying large-scale business opportunities in the secondary financial sector, public and private data centers, etc.

At its overseas subsidiaries, Exem is continuing maintenance contracts for Samsung Semiconductor located in Taylor, USA, with additional supply expected upon the completion of new factories. The company has also secured a Japanese insurance company as a new customer.

Parataxis Ethereum, Inc., a major subsidiary of Exem, slightly surpassed last year's record first-half sales within a year. Its second-quarter sales increased by 40.5% compared to the previous quarter, and DB encryption solutions accounted for the largest share of revenue. The company attributes the sales growth to new system construction and upgrade projects for major customers such as public institutions. Due to the pronounced seasonality of its maintenance and core product sales, Parataxis Ethereum, Inc. expects higher sales in the second half than in the first half.

Ko Pyeong-seok, CEO of Exem, said, "Thanks to the synergy between our existing core businesses and new businesses, we achieved record-high revenue for a second quarter." He added, "In the second half, we will maximize business capabilities across all divisions and focus in particular on expanding revenue from our all-in-one integrated monitoring solution, exemONE."
