2024.08.22. The Fair Economy — The '2024 International Broadcast Content Market (BroadCast WorldWide, BCWW)', hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and co-organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) and COEX, will be held for three days from the 27th to the 29th at COEX in Samseong-dong, Seoul.

According to KOCCA, BCWW is a global broadcasting and video market aimed at expanding the overseas advancement and exports of K-content. This year, under the slogan 'BCWW, Opening the Future of the Global Stage', it plans to support the global advancement of outstanding domestic and international content through diverse programs including an exhibition market, conferences, showcases, business matching, an awards ceremony, On Air, and a K-OTT promotional hall.

Cho Hyeon-rae, CEO of KOCCA, said, "We expect BCWW to establish itself as a global representative content market that leads broadcasting and video trends and future growth engines beyond Asia starting this year," and added, "We will provide multifaceted support so that more K-content can advance into the global market and become mainstream in the world content market."

Scale expanded in line with K-content's global influence

This event has significantly expanded its scale in line with the spread of K-content's global influence, with a total of 277 companies from 13 countries participating in the exhibition market, and 1,022 buyers from 34 countries (based on pre-registration) visiting to seek business opportunities with domestic content companies.

Notably, France is participating as a national pavilion for the first time in history. The French national pavilion will feature five French video and media-related institutions, including 'Mediawan,' France's largest media group, and 'Gaumont TV,' along with the CNC (Centre National du Cinéma et de l'Image Animée), France's overarching broadcasting and video authority, and UNIFRANCE. They will discuss cooperation with domestic content companies.

Domestic OTT platforms Coupang Play and Lotte Cultureworks, as well as Hybe, will also participate with independent booths for the first time this year. In addition, major domestic media companies such as KBS Media, MBC, and CJ ENM, as well as global media companies including Japan's NHK and Fuji Television, China's iQIYI, Youku, and Tencent Video, and Singapore's BBC Studios, will participate to create a venue for mutual exchange and expansion of business opportunities.

Conference covering industry trends

The conference will feature 21 sessions in which global broadcasting and video industry experts will speak on key industry issues, including artificial intelligence (AI), OTT, IP, and Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV (FAST).

Notably, a special session will feature Lee Jeong-jae, a global star actor and producer, sharing his endless challenges as a creative artist.
