2024.08.23. The Fair Economy — LG Uplus (LGU+, CEO Hwang Hyeon-sik) announced on the 23rd that it signed a business agreement with the Gyeonggi Social Economy Center (Director Yoo Hun) to "solve Gyeonggi social environment problems and support the growth of social economy organizations".

According to LGU+, the agreement aims to foster continuous cooperation between LGU+ and social economy organizations in Gyeonggi Province to solve social problems, and to provide broad growth opportunities to innovative social economy organizations.

Under the agreement, both parties will pursue ▲ mutual cooperation on projects to solve social environmental issues in Gyeonggi Province, ▲ joint promotion of open innovation support programs, ▲ sharing of information and resources to support the growth of social economy organizations, ▲ related business support through mutual consultation, and ▲ joint exploration of other cooperative projects.

This year, the two institutions will actively cooperate to resolve child care blind spots in Namyangju, Gyeonggi. They plan to jointly implement solutions that address the 'care gap' phenomenon experienced by children due to dual-income parents and promote self-directed learning. The Gyeonggi Social Economy Center will support the Urinuri Social Cooperative, an educational community located in Namyangju, with funding for solution development and mentoring to help address the care gap, thereby strengthening the project's specifics. Additionally, LG Uplus will provide its smart home CCTV product "Our Home Guardian" and self-directed learning content to 50 households in Namyangju, offering emotional stability and learning opportunities to children in need of care.

Yoo Hun, director of the Gyeonggi Social Economy Institute, said, "If companies and social economy organizations join forces, we can find innovative solutions to existing social problems," adding, "We expect substantive changes in Gyeonggi Province through close collaboration between LGU+ and Gyeonggi social economy organizations such as cooperatives."

Park Gyeong-jung, managing director in charge of external cooperation at LGU+, said, "It is meaningful to take the first step in solving the social problems of Gyeonggi Province, which has the largest population among local governments in Korea, through LGU+'s information and communication technology (ICT)," and "We will actively cooperate with the Gyeonggi Social Economy Center and social economy organizations to change the daily lives of provincial residents."
