2024.07.23. The Fair Economy — The Ministry of Strategy and Finance announced that the government presented the "2024 second-half public institution citizen-experienced service improvement plan" at the Economic Relations Ministerial Meeting on the 23rd. The plan consists of 22 items and focuses on resolving inconveniences in public services that citizens use in daily life.

First, applicants for the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) to be held in August will be able to fill out their application forms online in advance, rather than by hand. The option to pay the examination fee via bank transfer, currently available only to enrolled students, will be expanded to all test-takers, including retakers and candidates for the national high school equivalency exam.

Starting in the second half of the year, customers using postal services will receive advance compensation for lost or damaged parcels. This will shorten the processing period from about two weeks to three days.

The "overseas kimchi air transport service", currently available only in the United States (winter season) and Japan, will be expanded to Canada and Australia, where many overseas Koreans reside, by July, and will be usable year-round, including the summer season.

To address long waiting times for charging on expressways, rapid chargers will be significantly expanded and fees reduced. The licensing exam for commercial vehicles such as taxis, buses, and trucks will be extended to weekday evenings and weekends to reduce waiting days for candidates. Starting in January 2025, the 'Online Misdirected Transfer Return Support' program, which previously covered up to 50 million won per case, will be expanded to cover up to 100 million won—the online single-transfer limit—to enhance the program's effectiveness.

In response to citizens' request, submitted through the "Service Alio" website, to expand public institution education donations to schools in non-metropolitan areas, the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation and the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund will expand the education donation services they previously provided only to the Seoul metropolitan area and select universities to nationwide elementary, middle, and high schools as well as universities, and will enhance the content.

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance announced that it will conduct performance evaluations of the improvement tasks to establish a continuous service improvement system for public institutions and to secure the practical implementation capability of the tasks, and will provide differentiated bonus points in the 2024 public institution management evaluation.

In addition, it will actively support the expansion of personnel and institutional improvements to ensure that service improvements are made in a timely manner.

Any citizen who wishes to improve public institution services can submit service improvement requests on the "Service Alio" website.
