2024.06.27. The Fair Economy — Domestic media infrastructure companies have reorganized their consultative body for the sound development of the industry and agreed to pursue activities to strengthen the industry's competitiveness.

The Broadcast Sound Industry Council held its re-inaugural general meeting on the 26th at the DLOGIXS headquarters in Anyang, Gyeonggi. On that day, the council formed its executive committee and discussed the bylaws and business plan, among other matters.

The council was launched in November 2012 and has carried out activities such as promoting domestic equipment, joint research and development (R&D), building a joint brand, and pioneering overseas markets. It also served as a channel for gathering industry opinions and achieved institutional improvements through recommendations to the government. As a result, the council is recognized as having played a pivotal role in strengthening the competitiveness of Korea's media infrastructure industry.

Recently, the government announced a draft amendment to the "Public Institution Broadcast Equipment Construction and Operation Guidelines" that would change the entrusted agency for supporting broadcast equipment procurement and creating a fair competition environment from the Korea Electronics Association (KEA) to the Document (RAPA).

In response, the council has prepared articles of association that designate RAPA as its new partner organization after the dissolution of the previous consultative body, and has established a plan to grow into a representative industry consultative body, with companies possessing media infrastructure manufacturing capabilities at its core and engineering and construction specialists participating.

Attendees said the re-founding general meeting is the first step in implementing this plan.

In his inaugural address, Lim Ik-chan said, "I believe today marks the starting point for opening a new horizon for Korea's broadcast sound equipment industry. In other words, it also means we have a great deal of work ahead of us. We face the task of promoting the sound development of the industry while responding to various unfair practice issues, as well as the task of strengthening the industry's competitiveness through mutually beneficial cooperation among member companies. Let us work together to raise the standing of Korea's broadcast equipment industry and pass it on to future generations."
