2024.06.28. The Fair Economy — Panasonic Korea, the Korean subsidiary of Panasonic, announced on the 28th that it will launch the 'Lumix DC-GH7,' a Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera equipped with a newly developed 25.2-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and phase-detection autofocus (PDAF).

According to Panasonic Korea, the Lumix GH7 is the latest model in the Lumix GH series, which has consistently been favored by creators for its performance tailored to video shooting.

The new Lumix GH7 is the first Lumix Micro Four Thirds device to feature phase-detection AF, known for high resolution and fast response, along with a newly developed 25.2-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor.

The optical low-pass filter design renders subject detail with precision, while improved saturation performance from the higher pixel count delivers smooth gradation and rich detail. In addition, faster output speed suppresses rolling shutter distortion, enabling 120p high-frame-rate recording in Cinema4K or 4K.

The adoption of phase-detection autofocus, a highly requested feature for the Lumix G series, has significantly improved autofocus performance. This helps accurately capture fast-moving subjects in sports events, animal photography, and action shots. The new Lumix GH7 also adds a real-time AF mode that detects airplanes and trains, enabling optimal shooting in a wider variety of environments.

Furthermore, the Lumix GH7 combines two images—a saturation-priority image generated by the 'low ISO circuit' and a low-noise priority image generated by the 'high ISO circuit'—using a synthesis ratio adjusted to the amount of light for each pixel. It features Dynamic Range Boost, which realizes low-noise, high-saturation gradations and rich, smooth HDR shooting. In particular, when shooting in V-Log, it achieves a dynamic range of over 13 stops, the maximum for a Lumix Micro Four Thirds camera, realizing rich gradations even in high-contrast situations.
