2024.07.18. The Fair Economy — Database (DB) security specialist OWL Systems, led by CEO Kang Byeong-seung, said on the 18th that it donated 2 million won to the international drone hacking defense contest 'Hack the DRONE Festival 2024' to foster and develop the drone security industry.
According to OWL Systems, Hack the DRONE Festival is the world's first international drone hacking defense competition, held for the first time last year, and this year marks its second edition.
The competition provides security experts with the opportunity to discover various vulnerabilities in drone systems and suggests ways to manage the security of future drone systems more thoroughly.
This year, the number of participating countries and personnel has increased by about two times compared to last year. In addition to the hacking contest, various lecture sessions and exhibition booths are being operated to provide a richer experience.
OWL Systems held a donation ceremony for Hack the DRONE Festival at its office in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, on the 17th. The event was attended by Kang Byeong-seung, CEO of OWL Systems; Kim U-jin, director; and Yoo Yeong-il, president of the Korea Drone Security Association (KDSA).
Through this sponsorship donation, OWL Systems supported the development of the drone security field and emphasized the importance of cooperation for the development of future security technologies. The company plans to promote industrial growth through active sponsorship and support in various security fields going forward.
Kang Byeong-seung, CEO of OWL Systems, said, "With global demand for and supply of drones increasing rapidly, the importance of drone security is being highlighted more than ever. I am very pleased that this sponsorship contributes to the advancement of drone hacking defense technology and the enhancement of security awareness. We will continue to strive to strengthen drone security."
Following its breakthrough of 10 billion won in sales last year, OWL Systems has recently been recognized for its technological capabilities in various fields, including winning the Digital Innovation Award and receiving a certificate of appreciation from DIDC. These achievements are the result of OWL Systems' excellent technology and continuous research and development, as it actively contributes to more areas of DB security and drives innovation across the entire industry.
