2024.06.05. The Fair Economy — KTC said on the 5th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Electronics Association (KEA) for one-stop support of ICT companies.

Ahn Seong-il, president of KTC, Park Cheong-won, executive vice chairman of KEA, and other officials from both organizations attended the signing ceremony held at 11 a.m. at the Electronics Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul.

According to KTC, the agreement covers information exchange in strategic ICT technology fields such as AI, software and Internet of Things (IoT) cybersecurity, smart home appliances, and 5G/6G; building a cooperative network to foster companies in the ICT sector; and support for ICT R&D testing and certification.

The two organizations also pledged cooperation on promoting and jointly utilizing the KEA Electronics Manufacturing Support Center and XR Demonstration Center, as well as offering up to a 10% discount on testing and inspection fees for deliverables from bodies conducting CC, GS, and ICT R&D projects.

In particular, the agreement focuses on supporting export companies in responding to IoT cybersecurity regulations that are being strengthened in domestic and international markets.

Recent trends in both domestic and overseas markets show that the importance of IoT security is growing as hacking techniques evolve. The United Kingdom became the first country in the world to implement mandatory IoT security legislation, starting in April this year, while the European Union, the United States and Japan are also moving to make security certification mandatory.

KTC expects that through this agreement, it will be able to provide one-stop support for mid-sized and small companies, from product and service development to certification testing, product launch, data analysis, and marketing.

KTC also plans to hold an 'Overseas IoT Cybersecurity Conference' on the 27th for home appliance and electronics companies.

"Through this agreement, we have laid the groundwork to swiftly respond to the fast-changing ICT market and support companies," said KTC President Ahn Seong-il. "We will continue to spare no effort in supporting ICT-related exporters, one of the nation's key industry sectors."
